Mediation allows you and the other party to make the decisions, rather than leaving important family matters to a judge. It can also help avoid the significant expense of retaining attorneys for the entire process.

You Don’t Have to Agree on Everything
Mediation is not all or nothing. Even if you cannot resolve every issue, the issues you do agree on can be put into a written agreement and prepared for filing with the court. Only the unresolved matters need to remain in dispute.

The mediator does not represent either party, provide legal advice, or make decisions for you. The parties remain in control of the outcome and are free to consult with an independent attorney if they choose.
